What materials do you use?
Full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather sourced from American tanneries — Horween in Chicago, Wickett & Craig in Pennsylvania, and Hermann Oak in St. Louis. Buffalo leather for the shell. Hand-cut calfskin for the liner. Solid brass hardware throughout. No synthetics.
Where are the helmets made?
Every helmet is cut, fitted, and finished by hand in Oakland, California. No overseas assembly.
Are your helmets DOT approved?
No. Lowman helmets are novelty helmets and are not DOT certified. They are not intended for use as protective headgear. Know your local laws before riding.
How long does an order take?
Each helmet is made to order. Lead time is typically 6–8 weeks. We do not rush the process.
What sizes are available?
We offer sizes XS through XL. If you are between sizes, contact us before ordering — we would rather get the fit right than have you guess.
How do I care for my helmet?
Condition the leather every few months with a natural leather conditioner — neatsfoot oil or beeswax-based. Keep it away from prolonged sun exposure and store it somewhere with airflow. The leather will darken and develop character over time. That is expected.
Do you offer returns?
Because each helmet is made to order, we do not accept returns. If something is wrong with your order, contact us and we will make it right.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Lead times and shipping costs vary by destination. Reach out before ordering if you have questions.
